tic-tock Twice in Ceremony Magazine, Spring

Spring is here and so is the new issue of Ceremony Magazine and tic-tock is honored be featured twice within its pages. Ceremony featured Wish Upon A Wedding’s gala, held at the Ebell, which we were honored to donate centerpieces for and one of our favorite weddings of 2010, Helen and Mike.

When we first met the glowing couple with their planner Christine Zohrabians of Fancy That! Events, their vision was clear: Vintage Inspired Opulence. Tall, ornately carved ceramic pedestals crowned by beautiful garden roses in pale shades of cream, pink and peach, hydrangea and lisianthus buds fit perfectly with the elegance of Vibiana – the perfect venue for the day of their dreams.

This truly opulent wedding was shot by Duke Photography. You can find mages from this and many more featured weddings in the pages of spring's Ceremony Magazine, available now in print and online. Come May, check out California Wedding Wave for more of Duke's photos from Helen and Mike's gorgeous wedding!

Bullets 4 Peace

Designers are always searching for inspiration and Eddie is no exception. His latest inspiration comes from Bullets 4 Peace jewelry. Not only are these necklaces beautiful works of art, they also promote world peace. The jewelry pieces are made out of real recycled bullet casings found in war zones or on the streets.

The concept for Bullets 4 Peace came to Designer Rafi Anteby in a dream. After his childhood friend, David Peri, was shot 18 times and killed, Rafi was left devastated and confused about his friend's violent death.

Then, one night, Rafi woke up from a dream about David and the 18 bullets that had taken his life. Rafi suddenly had an inspiration of his own. He realized that he'd been sent a message. He remembered that the number 18 represented the Hebrew word Chai in Kabbala, which he had studied as a kid, and that it's translation meant life.

Rafi sat at his drawing table and designed the first piece of jewelry in his collection, Let Peace Out. Today, Rafi's inspirations are worn by celebrities Snoop Dogg, Beyonce, Jamie Foxx and Justin Timberlake to name a few.

TPG UNCENSORED!

Image Courtesy of Blue Flair PhotographyLast week, E headed out to The Party Goddess! UNCENSORED in San Diego to take part in what is, arguably, one of the most high-energy industry events around. Created by The Party Goddess! herself, Marley Majcher, UNCENSORED is all about having fun and sharing the wealth – quite literally, really. Every year, Marley brings together fabulous groups of experts from all areas of the special events industry to use their knowledge and vast experience to help others grow their business and live their dream!

The Party Goddess! Marley Majcher in floral headpiece by Eddie Zaratsian. Image Courtesy of Blue Flair PhotographyE was honored to be invited to speak and share his insights on branding and helping your clients create signature looks and took seminar guests through a fun-filled forty five minutes or so of photos, q&a etc. on the subject but one of the highlights for E was presenting Marley with a fresh floral headpiece he designed for her with her brand in mind. Using Cymbidium Orchids in TPG’s signature pink, E set out to create something that is everything The Party Goddess! brand is about: fun, daring, unique, multi-dimensional and oh-so-smart! Peeling away the layers of the orchid and using them in non-traditional ways was a blast and certainly The Party Goddess’ signature style.

What’s yours?

Vibiana: A Breathtaking Venue in a Beautiful City

Image by Callaway GableIn 1876, the City of Los Angeles welcomed its first cathedral, the Cathedral of St. Vibiana. Designed in the Italian Baroque style and named a Los Angeles Cultural Monument in 1963, St. Vibiana was a vision of beauty in downtown LA until the Northridge earthquake in 1994. Deemed by the diocese to be irreparably damaged, St. Vibiana was acquired in 1999 for reuse development and the restoration process began.

When it reopened as an event space known only as Vibiana, it quickly became one of our favorite venues in Los Angeles. The architecture and details are so exquisite, one wonders – at times – how such a beautiful space could possibly be made more beautiful. And yet, we see it happen. Time and again we work with fabulous ladies like Christine Zohrabians of Fancy That! Events and Nikki Khan of Exquisite Events who make each occasion in this space a masterpiece.  Last week, WIPA held a luncheon at Vibiana, bringing some of our favorite people to one of our favorite places and inspiring us to share a bit more about this amazing, historic venue!

BizBash President Richard Aaron shares his insights with attendees. One could easily spend hours marveling over the architecture. Each detail, from the columns and door frame to the ceiling provide a designer with something to play toWIPA President Pauline Parry of Good Gracious! Events welcomes guests to WIPA at Vibiana

Thank you a thousand times to Duke Photography and Callway Gable for these beautiful photos!

tic-tock Designs at WIPA's Vibiana Luncheon

Tuesday afternoon’s WIPA luncheon brought some of our favorite things together: delicious food, great friends and new ideas – in one of our favorite places: Vibiana.

It was quite an event with Biz Bash President Richard Aaron sharing insights on event industry innovations and changes to the landscape of cultural engagement with advances in technology and shifts in media. There were beautiful tabletops and tic-tock had the honor of working with designs on two tables for the event. A table of our own and one with WIPA and Good Gracious! Events’ President Pauline Parry.

For the tic-tock table we went with a modern feel with paper flowers by Paper Botanicals incorporated into a large, sculptural piece made of white hydrangea. Tabletop elements from Small Masterpiece set atop a beautiful linen in gold and ivory tones from Wildflower and we absolutely LOVED the new chairs from Luxe.

Over at Pauline’s table, things were a little more romantic with lace and Queen Anne’s Leaf, Jasmine, Ranunculus and Freesia in modern white containers on a clean, dark finish wood table.

WIPA at Vibiana was fabulous and we’re already looking forward to the next meeting on Tuesday, April 5th at Maderas Golf Club where Carrier Associates’ Katy Carrier will discuss the legalities of protecting your brand – from trade secrets and copyrights to social media. Katy founded Carrier and Associates specifically for the wedding, special events and creative industries. We’ve had the good fortune of working with her and can say from experience that her insights are invaluable.

We hope to see you there!

The beautiful photos here were provided by the always fabulous Marianne Lozano and to her we say a thousand thank yous.

Join Eddie at The Party Goddess! UNCENSORED

UNCENSORED: It’s coming, it’s live and it’s at San Diego's Culy Warehouse March 16th-18th. Put together by The Party Goddess herself, Marley Majcher, UNCENSORED is about events, it’s about design, it’s about marketing and – at the end of the day – it’s about money and how to make more of it with your event business. Marley has lined up a host of industry experts such as celeb wedding planner Mary Dann, Henley Company CEO Nicole Matthews, Raye C Marketing’s Rhonda Couchigian and tic-tock’s very own Eddie Zaratsian to speak on a range of topics from how to stay balanced and focused, to design and marketing to Marley’s signature session “…But Are You Making Any Money?”

If you’ve never been to The Party Goddess UNCENSORED, you should come and, if you have, come anyway because you’ve never been to this one. We can say that because UNCENSORED has never been done this way.

Eddie is so honored to have been invited to speak at UNCENSORED and is looking forward to sharing his experience and insights as he talks about Successfully Designing with your client’s style in mind. A sneak peek into the floral designs he’s created for some of the industry’s finest including: Fancy That! Events, The Bridal Bar, Exquisite Events, Wendy Rhodes, Kathy Nosek, Ariel Yve and Cassandra Santor.

The Huntington Library's First Private Wedding

The Huntington Library and Gardens has been the site of weddings in television and movies like The Wedding Planner, The West Wing, Monster in Law and General Hospital but until Daniel and Sarah did their I Do’s, it had never been the location of a private wedding. When their planner (and our good friend) Wendy Rhodes called tic-tock, we were so excited! What an honor to create florals for the first-ever private wedding at such an historic site. It was important that the design for each aspect of the wedding complement the architecture and lush gardens of the Huntington. The design was perfect for the classic romantic feeling of the gardens and the color palette of soft and subtle shades of pink and cream with touches of green on a tabletop dressed in a perfectly textured pale linen with mercury glass votives. (Thank you James Johnson Photography for sharing his beautiful work with us!)
