Tea with E: The Details

When the time came to begin planning our second annual Tea With E, I think the first question on everyone’s mind was “How do we create an even more fabulous experience for our guests”?

I think that’s the first question on just about anyone’s mind when creating an event but when that event is for the Wedding industry’s finest, the pressure is really on.  Our guests have devoted their careers to creating perfect days for couples to share their love and exchange their vows – long hours spent in a labor of love and they are so deserving of an afternoon with no need for anything but to relax, enjoy and laugh among old friends and new. Creating this for them is our vision and so, we set to brainstorming with Raye C Marketing’s Rhonda Couchigian, who, like us, is never out of ideas.

When we began we knew a few things:

1. This year’s Tea With E needed to top last year.

2. Only the best would do.

Last year, Tea With E was a Mad Hatter inspired event and this year, we thought a proper English Afternoon Tea would be perfect! Since no one knew the date of the Royal Wedding when we began, the fact that the two coincided was some sort of cosmic alignment of fabulous events.

We knew we couldn’t bring our vision to fruition alone and so we sought the industry’s finest, most creative vendors to help us breathe life into our creation.  We love it when everything comes together seamlessly and once the Langham Pasadena was decided as the venue, our perfect team fell into place. Revelry provided furniture, décor and the amazing feather backdrop. Linen and chair covers by Wildflower, Images by Lighting made everything shine, Marianne Lozano Photography captured the detailed photos and Cean One Photography the portraits, chiavaris were provided by Classic Party Rentals and our guests’ experience started off with a Save the Date by Raye C Marketing and invitations by Creative Works Designs. Brenna Whitaker’s brand of Jazz kept the room full of music and Brandt Jacobus enchanted our guests with his Spanish Guitar during the cocktails and after tea.

E created a lovely Buffet de Fleurs, which ended up being a big hit. The planners were able to choose flowers that complimented their beautiful outfits and our tic-tock artists crafted gorgeous head pieces for them. They loved it!

The smiles, "oohs" and "ahhs" from our guests made this day even better than perfect, a perfection that would not have been possible without this incredible team.

Tea with E: The Delicacies

The ritual of afternoon tea began in 1840 by Anna, 7th Duchess of Bedford, who served it to ward off hunger pangs in the long hours between lunch and dinner. Anna started to share her tea, sandwiches and biscuits with her friends; and her afternoon indulgence eventually became a tradition.

E's tea party has also become a tradtion that we will look forward to all year. The food served by The Langham Huntington was as delicious as it was a feast for the eyes.

Tea Sandwiches: Coconut Shrimp on Garlic Herb Bread, Smoked Salmon Tower on Sourdough Bread, Bacon and Eggs on Wheat Bread, Vegetable Garden on Dark Squaw Bread, and Cucumber Cup of Chips and Salsa.

Desserts: Chocolate Caramel Slice with Sea Salt, Chocolate Orange Gateau with Grand Marnier, Tropical Mango Cone, Brown Butter Cake, Pain Turk-Almond Cookie Sandwich, French macaroon-Anise Seed, Lemon Poppy Tea Cake, and Brulee Fruit Tart.

Tea with E: Party Portraits

Just one of the many stunning things about Tea with E in the Viennese Ballrom & Terrace at The Langham Huntington, was the portrait studio. We fell in love with Revelry Event Designer's vision for the studio. Thank you Edgar Zamora and Giancarlo Tallarico!

The Grace Ormonde Flower Panel Backdrop created the perfect, soft texture to frame all of our beautiful guests. The French Country look of the tea was enhanced by Revelry's Versailles multi-seat sofa, mirrored Paris tables, Paris Collection accent pillows and a gorgeous 18th-century French-inspired mirror! We're officially spoiled! (p.s. All of Revelry's furniture is custom-made by artisans at their L.A. shop and is now available in their rental division. Lucky you!). Here's a look at the photo studio and stay tuned for more great Tea with E photos from Cean One Photography coming very soon!
