FOX Network Premieres 'X Factor'!

FOX Network's been pretty busy this week! The Emmy's aired last night and on Friday, FOX premiered it's new show 'X Factor', the #1 rated singing competition in the U.K. for the last seven years that is now coming to America with judges Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. What makes the 'X Factor' different from other singing competitions? Well, for one thing, a $5 million dollar recording contract, and for another, the audience is now involved in the audition process.

FOX paired up with Ford for a week of amazing promotional events, starting with an incredible kickoff party at the Book Bindery in Culver City on Monday, followed by an extraordinary 'X Factor' premiere at the ArcLight in Hollywood on Wednesday night.

To introduce FOX's fall lineup, Karin Pofsky and YourBash! threw the party at the Book Bindery in fall colors decorated with Moroccan candles, lanterns, cozy area rugs and comfortable seating arrangements. FOX wanted the party to be completely environmentally friendly, so the orchids and succulents were reused for the Emmy events last night; and the delicious cuisine from Alligator Pear was all organic!

New Ford vehicles were parked near the arrivals carpet and guests were handed poker chips to use at the casino games by Fantasy Casino. The poker chips were redeemed for prizes on the way out and guests also received eco-friendly lunch bags from Koko Accessories.

On Wednesday, approximately 800 guests came out to the ArcLight in Hollywood for the 'X Factor' premiere, which was produced by FOX's special events and creative services department in conjunction with Russell Harris Event Group, who even created a custom-built stage for the event. After the screening, judges were introduced and participated in a Q&A session with the audience, followed by a post-screening media conference and an after party at The Redbury.

The Russell Harris Event Group is no stranger to large corporate events like this. For over 20 years, they've been the exclusive event production and management company in L.A. They specialize in creative corporate and entertainment events and have collected some amazing clients for their portfolio, including Disney, Intel, Mercedes-Benz, Sony and Showtime.

Their list of services is long and diverse and includes specialized services like event marketing and promotions, trade shows, talent and entertainment, staffing, audio visual and sound, custom invitations, decor and custom props, and valet and limosuine service. (Just to name a few.)

Niecy Nash Bridal Shower

Who is that mysterious and handsome man being interviewed by Entertainment Tonight?! tic-tock designed floral arrangements for Niecy Nash's bridal shower and ET wanted to know all about it! We've been sworn to secrecy about the exciting details of Niecy's bridal shower. You'll just have to wait for the segment airing tonight on KCBS at 7:00! What we can tell you is that you'll see lots of celebrities and surprises! Maybe an emotional serenade? Possibly a special guest?

Niecy is the Host and Producer of the Style Network’s home makeover show, Clean House, which has become the network’s #1 rated program. She's also a two-time 2009 Daytime Emmy nominee.

Urbane wedding planner William P. Miller designed Niecy's beautiful bridal shower. William regularly appears on The Style Network's hit television shows Whose Wedding Is It Anyway? and Married Away.

Cean One Photography captured the photos for the shower and they will be featured in Life & Style Magazine.

tic-tock With Fancy That! in Bride & Bloom

We are so excited to be in the current issue of Bride & Bloom for Bahareh and Shahriar’s wedding with Fancy That! Events. We always love working with Christine and had an especially wonderful time with this couple. Everything about them was so sweet and charming, their joy was infectious and – if you haven’t been to the Langham, Pasadena – you should make sure to check it out. tic-tock Designs at WIPA's Vibiana Luncheon

Tuesday afternoon’s WIPA luncheon brought some of our favorite things together: delicious food, great friends and new ideas – in one of our favorite places: Vibiana.

It was quite an event with Biz Bash President Richard Aaron sharing insights on event industry innovations and changes to the landscape of cultural engagement with advances in technology and shifts in media. There were beautiful tabletops and tic-tock had the honor of working with designs on two tables for the event. A table of our own and one with WIPA and Good Gracious! Events’ President Pauline Parry.

For the tic-tock table we went with a modern feel with paper flowers by Paper Botanicals incorporated into a large, sculptural piece made of white hydrangea. Tabletop elements from Small Masterpiece set atop a beautiful linen in gold and ivory tones from Wildflower and we absolutely LOVED the new chairs from Luxe.

Over at Pauline’s table, things were a little more romantic with lace and Queen Anne’s Leaf, Jasmine, Ranunculus and Freesia in modern white containers on a clean, dark finish wood table.

WIPA at Vibiana was fabulous and we’re already looking forward to the next meeting on Tuesday, April 5^th at Maderas Golf Club where Carrier Associates’ Katy Carrier will discuss the legalities of protecting your brand – from trade secrets and copyrights to social media. Katy founded Carrier and Associates specifically for the wedding, special events and creative industries. We’ve had the good fortune of working with her and can say from experience that her insights are invaluable.

tic-tock's Eddie Zaratsian Named Creative Director of the Year!

Viva Las Vegas!! Of all of the get away weekends and trips to Vegas over the years, this last weekend’s was the most amazing yet! tic-tock’s own Eddie was named Creative Director of the Year at the Event Solutions Spotlight Awards on Monday night. To be nominated alongside a group of amazing industry professionals who do such great work every year was not something that Eddie was expecting.  His co-nominees; MMD Events’ Amanda Allen, Stefanie Berry of SHOWORKS, Donald Braun, Christine Brower of C. Brower & Co., Diane Butner of the illustrious MGM Resorts Events, Brian Joyce, ConceptBAIT’s Lynn McGhee, Bisli Vasquez and Los Angeles’ own David Merrell of AOO Events really give everyone in the industry something to strive for as they are each consistently trying new things and expanding their repertoire to make sure their designs are everything their clients deserve.

The trip to Vegas was a lot of fun and, the way E tells it, he couldn’t wait for the Spotlight Awards to take place to see who he’d be congratulating. It was his first nomination and I don’t know that anyone really anticipates a win on their first time out but, when the time came his name was called and it was, as he says “soo amazing and unexpected!”

The Spotlight Awards are awarded based on voting by the industry and the community and so this truly could not have happened without the support and votes of all of our colleagues and friends who took the time to spread the word and spent a minute casting their vote for Eddie. And,  it would just be wrong if we didn’t say a very very special thank you to Rhonda Couchigian at Raye C Marketing for her tireless work.

A Weekend in Las Vegas, Spotlight Awards are Monday!

Los Angeles to Las Vegas: a nice drive, a really quick flight and always a fantastic time. Whether you’re there Hall of Fame Inductee, Pauline Parryfor business or pleasure, it always has something to offer and this weekend tic-tock's Eddie Zaratsian is out there for a bit of both. It’s much more than a weekend stay at Las Vegas’ newest, hottest hotel the Cosmopolitan. This weekend is The Event Solutions Idea Factory, the annual event created to showcase new vendors and what’s new from industry mainstays. It’s a weekend full of fabulous speakers, with a keynote from Preston Bailey and David Tutera, and seminars from Marcy Blum and Pauline Parry among others. On Monday, the weekend culminates in the Spotlight Awards where our friend Pauline will be inducted into the Event Solutions’ Industry Hall of Fame and E is up for the Creative Director of the Year Award. Pauline is truly deserving of the honor and we can’t wait to watch as she receives it. As far as E goes, it’s his first nomination and, who knows what will happen but thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and congratulations to his fellow nominees. It’s going to be a fabulous weekend.

Thoughts On Valentine's Day (The Day After)

I know that usually, we have a lot of photos but today, we mostly have something to say. See, yesterday was Valentine’s Day and it seems that now, the evening after, the dust has just begun to settle. This year, Valentine’s Day brought tic-tock over 200 opportunities to express love and brighten someone’s day and at the end of that day, I think we all sat back and thought about what we love about Valentine’s Day (and, admittedly, some of the things we don’t).  This morning, we sat talking about it, with E asking if we didn’t all think maybe he wasn’t a romantic at heart. Now, I don’t know if you know Eddie, but the fact that he even asked was almost laughable. Maybe a romantic? As though there is a possibility that he is anything but! Anyway, we chatted a bit about what we love most about Valentine’s Day and the verdict is in:

Expressing your love through ours. What do I mean? Well, we love listening to your stories and expressing your love through our love of designing beautiful arrangements. Sure, we have gorgeous arrangements to choose from on our website, but most of the time our order process sounds something like this:

Customer: “I’d like to order flowers for my wife.”

tic-tock: “What’s she like?”

Customer: ”She’s…”

Creating the arrangements that express what you’re feeling for the person you love is sort of what we live for. Well, a big part of it anyway.  And, while every year, scores lament the “Hallmark” aspect of Valentine’s Day, it remains a wonderful day for people to give and receive expressions of love, a wonderful day for E and everyone else at tic-tock to communicate your love through our art and, really, our only regret about Valentine’s Day, isn’t about Valentine’s Day at all. See, we wish more people would remember that sometimes the best things come unexpectedly and that, just maybe, the best kind of flowers are like the best kind of I love you’s.

The Just Because kind.

Of course, if you want to leave it up to us, you can select “Designer’s Choice” in any of our price categories and we will create something amazing just for you.

As we add to our inventory of chocolates, preserved and dried arrangements and tic-tock Lifestyle items, we’ll keep you updated. But, for now, you can shop arrangements and send someone special something stunning.

WIPA's Wedding Gallery at TSE

This year at TSE, tic-tock took on the 2011 Design Gallery for Wedding Industry Professionals Association with industry professionals, Good Gracious!, BBJ Linen, and Cachet Wedding Designs to create “Our Blue Heaven.”

 

The characters of Our Blue Heaven are a couple from a farming community looking for the ideal expression of elegance and their traditional roots.  We decided to utilize a core pallet of Navy Blue, Grey and White while incorporating several different textures and sheens.

The before-sunrise start of daily farm life inspired the four-course breakfast menu and, while the frames along the walls originally depicted trees and floral found in the countryside, the design team didn’t feel as though that was coming across quite the way they wanted and so, inspired by toile fabrics;  the cows, Isabelle and Colin, were born. The silhouettes of Isabelle and Colin add a dramatic element to the vignette, extending across the walls and softening their appearance while adding a strong textural element. A white high gloss table flanked by acrylic chairs is dressed in a series of arrangements, while a cake created from assorted cheeses such as Parmesano Reggiano, Brie, Gouda, and Stilton adorned with handmade paper flowers adds a unique touch that truly speaks to the couple being honored. Throughout the gallery, texture and layers play a strong role in the storytelling, incorporating high gloss finishes with posh leather, velvets, silks, sequins and tulle.

We’re getting so close to the launch of our new site and can’t wait to share the entire thing with you but we’re not there just yet. Thanks so much to everyone who commented on Friday and helped us with our naming project. You’ll have to wait until the launch to see which we chose but in the meantime, we thought we’d see what thoughts you had about names for a few others…
