tic-tock and I Do Over! The Tumbagas Episode

We've got professional photos taken by Mike Colon of the Tumbagas Wedding on I Do Over! Jung and Victor Tumbagas experienced a disastrous first wedding, with severe weather ruining everything! Jung was excited to be getting a do-over wedding, but also hesitant to trust Diann's vision for her perfect day. Of course, Jung ended up being pleasantly surprised at how beautiful her dream wedding turned out to be.

We went all out, using thousands of beautiful yellow flowers with help from 1-800-FLOWERS and Diann Valentine and her crew. The beautiful fountain was our centerpiece of the reception, with lush and cheerful yellow flowers and lots of candles. Diann and designed an amazing Candyland Lounge for the reception that was pure eye candy. Wildflower Linen worked their magic, as always, with some fabulous table linens. The menu and placecards were so elegant and were made by the Diann Valentine Wedding Stationary Collection. Don't miss the next episode of I Do Over! on Sunday at 10E / 9C on WEtv!

Model Tea with E

E had the pleasure of helping to design a unique event at The Beverly Wilshire Hotel on June 12. The East-meets-West themed fashion show/formal tea was the brain child of Nikki Khan from Exquisite Events and Youngsong Martin of Wildflower Linen.

Their goal was to blend the timeless style, romance and drama of Paris, India and the Hamptons; while communicating visually that while these destinations are in some ways very different, they also have something in common. They all inspire great design.

E designed the beautiful florals for this acrylic-framed mandap, which was the focal point for the fashion show. Models strutted down the yellow and white striped runway in Wildflower's high-fashion table linens, which Youngsong Martin turned into haute couture apparel by draping and pinning them.

Revelry Event Designers provided the amazing custom-made furniture, upholstery and mandap structures for the entire event. Here's a closer look at the incredible Indian-inspired sofa.

Following the fashion show, the guests moved from the Rodeo Terrace into the hotel's Le Grand Trianon room for formal tea. E designed the gorgeous floral archway of Spray Roses, Calla Lilies, Hydrangea, Peonies and Plum Branches.

We'd like to thank Nikki Khan and Youngsong Martin for inviting us to be a part of this spectacular event. A special thank you also to John Solano Photography for the wonderful photos!

Tea with E: The Details

When the time came to begin planning our second annual Tea With E, I think the first question on everyone’s mind was “How do we create an even more fabulous experience for our guests”?

I think that’s the first question on just about anyone’s mind when creating an event but when that event is for the Wedding industry’s finest, the pressure is really on.  Our guests have devoted their careers to creating perfect days for couples to share their love and exchange their vows – long hours spent in a labor of love and they are so deserving of an afternoon with no need for anything but to relax, enjoy and laugh among old friends and new. Creating this for them is our vision and so, we set to brainstorming with Raye C Marketing’s Rhonda Couchigian, who, like us, is never out of ideas.

When we began we knew a few things:

1. This year’s Tea With E needed to top last year.

2. Only the best would do.

Last year, Tea With E was a Mad Hatter inspired event and this year, we thought a proper English Afternoon Tea would be perfect! Since no one knew the date of the Royal Wedding when we began, the fact that the two coincided was some sort of cosmic alignment of fabulous events.

We knew we couldn’t bring our vision to fruition alone and so we sought the industry’s finest, most creative vendors to help us breathe life into our creation.  We love it when everything comes together seamlessly and once the Langham Pasadena was decided as the venue, our perfect team fell into place. Revelry provided furniture, décor and the amazing feather backdrop. Linen and chair covers by Wildflower, Images by Lighting made everything shine, Marianne Lozano Photography captured the detailed photos and Cean One Photography the portraits, chiavaris were provided by Classic Party Rentals and our guests’ experience started off with a Save the Date by Raye C Marketing and invitations by Creative Works Designs. Brenna Whitaker’s brand of Jazz kept the room full of music and Brandt Jacobus enchanted our guests with his Spanish Guitar during the cocktails and after tea.

E created a lovely Buffet de Fleurs, which ended up being a big hit. The planners were able to choose flowers that complimented their beautiful outfits and our tic-tock artists crafted gorgeous head pieces for them. They loved it!

The smiles, "oohs" and "ahhs" from our guests made this day even better than perfect, a perfection that would not have been possible without this incredible team.

Wild for Wildflower Linens!

Photograph by Kevin LuberaWhen Young-Song Martin made her departure from the world of fashion and started Wildflower Linens – she set out to change the way that tabletops were designed and bring fashion from the showroom to the ballroom. It’s simultaneously difficult to believe that she hasn’t been doing this forever and that she’s accomplished so much in only ten years. She has truly changed the way that linens and chair covers are perceived, the way tabletops are designed and the way that fabrics and textures are incorporated into the landscape of an event design. With the creation of Wildflower Linens, Young brought event designers an entirely new realm of inspiration and each year she continues to introduce some of the finest and most awe-inspiring new linens and chair covers that the special events world has seen.  These are some of our favorite shots of recent work we’ve done with Young and you can see more of her work in the beautiful galleries on the Wildflower Linens website.

tic-tock Designs at WIPA's Vibiana Luncheon

Tuesday afternoon’s WIPA luncheon brought some of our favorite things together: delicious food, great friends and new ideas – in one of our favorite places: Vibiana.

It was quite an event with Biz Bash President Richard Aaron sharing insights on event industry innovations and changes to the landscape of cultural engagement with advances in technology and shifts in media. There were beautiful tabletops and tic-tock had the honor of working with designs on two tables for the event. A table of our own and one with WIPA and Good Gracious! Events’ President Pauline Parry.

For the tic-tock table we went with a modern feel with paper flowers by Paper Botanicals incorporated into a large, sculptural piece made of white hydrangea. Tabletop elements from Small Masterpiece set atop a beautiful linen in gold and ivory tones from Wildflower and we absolutely LOVED the new chairs from Luxe.

Over at Pauline’s table, things were a little more romantic with lace and Queen Anne’s Leaf, Jasmine, Ranunculus and Freesia in modern white containers on a clean, dark finish wood table.

WIPA at Vibiana was fabulous and we’re already looking forward to the next meeting on Tuesday, April 5th at Maderas Golf Club where Carrier Associates’ Katy Carrier will discuss the legalities of protecting your brand – from trade secrets and copyrights to social media. Katy founded Carrier and Associates specifically for the wedding, special events and creative industries. We’ve had the good fortune of working with her and can say from experience that her insights are invaluable.

We hope to see you there!

The beautiful photos here were provided by the always fabulous Marianne Lozano and to her we say a thousand thank yous.

Your Wedding Day Magazine: Lush Opulence

Last night was the launch party for Your Wedding Day Magazine’s summer 2010 issue which features photos from their groundbreaking event “The Making of a Magazine: A Behind the Scenes.” When we were invited to be a part of this event, we couldn’t have been more honored. Held over two days at the Taglyan Cultural Center, "The Making of a Magazine" was an opportunity to show where just where the imagination can take us and what goes into a shoot. Given the concept of  "Lush Opulence: Inspired by the Proper Traditions of English Teatime," We dreamed up a setting worthy of the Queen and her court. Perfectly lit by J Fox Event Lighting and photographed by Kevin Lubera, we used rich fabric draping, antique furniture pieces, a gorgeous cake by Cake Divas, elegant linens from Wildflower, tabletop elements from Classic Party Rentals, and too good to eat food by Divine Food and Catering, we set the stage for the real star of the show, the floral designs. A swooping garland, lush and full of roses and peonies was posted by ribbon beneath a golden chandelier and down to the tabletop where the length of the table was covered not by traditional fabric runner, but by an arrangement rich and textured with roses, hydrangea, tulips, amaryllis and peonies. Throughout the space were accents incorporating ribbons and jewels, porcelain and jasmine, details set about like little discoveries waiting to be made. See what you find in the Summer issue of YWD that inspires you, then tell us what you loved about it.
